Exploring the Educational Programs and Workshops at the Masur Art Museum in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana

In this informative article, we will explore the educational programs and workshops offered by the Masur Art Museum in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. The Masur Art Museum is the largest visual arts museum in northeastern Louisiana that collects and exhibits. Admission to the museum is always free, and they provide educational programs for both children and adults. The NCLAC (Northeast Louisiana Arts Council) is delighted to collaborate with the Louisiana Tech Master of Fine Arts program in a new series of classes from the Academy of Arts.

These classes will be taught by third-year master's degree candidates, promoted by second-year candidates and attended by first-year candidates. This is a great opportunity for these master's students to work with a nonprofit community organization, continue their teaching experience, and create unique classroom opportunities for children and adults. The series will kick off with Matthew Knopps' class titled Visual Rhythm, which Mary Dunn describes below. The class requires prior registration and class size is very limited due to the nature of the process. The Arts Council works directly with local artists and provides grant opportunities to artists and arts organizations. Meg Waters, an enthusiastic volunteer and advocate for the arts, graduated from Park University in Kansas, MO, with a degree in Interior Design.

Josh earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from Louisiana Tech and has published several works, including New American Paintings and Studio Visit Magazine. The workshop will be taught by Joshua Chambers, an artist from the area and a talented art teacher from the Ouachita Parish school system. Pirkle is pursuing a master's degree in English education from Louisiana Technological University and is a graduate of LA Tech's Studio Art program. The Museum is located in the last remaining classrooms of the Selman Field Sailing School, the largest sailing school in the United States. This is a great opportunity for creative parents and children to work together to create a work of art that will be on display during the 16th annual NCLAC Christmas art tour in downtown Ruston. The Downtown Gallery Crawl, sponsored by the nonprofit organization Downtown Arts Alliance, shows new works of art by local, regional and national artists six times a year. Melanie has exhibited her artwork at several exhibitions in Northeast Louisiana, such as Ruston's 102A Bistro and, more recently, Art With A View. In conclusion, the Masur Art Museum offers educational programs for both children and adults.

They partner with Louisiana Tech Master of Fine Arts program to provide classes taught by third-year master's degree candidates. Additionally, they offer workshops taught by local artists such as Joshua Chambers. Finally, they host events such as the Downtown Gallery Crawl which showcases new works of art by local, regional and national artists.
