2012 workshops:
Abstract-Impressionistic Mixed Media Painting Using Yupo Paper with Marlene Gremillion – Saturday, Feb. 18 – Monday, Feb. 20th. Ouachita River Art Gallery, 308 Trenton St., West Monroe, LA, 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Pick up a supply list at the gallery OR with $50.00 deposit, the list will be mailed. Limit 14. Total: price: $45.00/day for a total of $135. A fun workshop where students work experimentally and intuitively by reacting to the textures that have been created after applying various colors. “Everything but the kitchen sink” will be used to create textures – found objects, lace, coffee filters, tissue paper, stencils, buttons, keys, leaves, etc. Then the mixed media comes in with using colored pencils, oil pastels, water media paint (transparent and opaque), or whatever it takes to make a finished piece. Everyone will work at their own pace with the assistance of the instructor, Marlene, who will also demonstrate the above techniques before the students paint on their own.
Working with Wire to make Jewelry (Mother/Daughter Workshop) with Marlene Gremillion - Saturday, March 24, 2012, Ouachita River Art Gallery, 308 Trenton St., West Monroe, LA, 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. $75 total for Mother and Daughter plus ($10 material packet paid to the artist). For a single person $45.00 for the day plus ($10.00 material packet) paid to the artist. To reserve your place $50.00 deposit for mother/daughter and $30.00 deposit for a single. Learn how to use wire and beads to create a necklace or bracelet and earrings. Students will make their own fasteners, ear wires and head pins. Working with copper (good practice wire), students will learn to use hand tools to create loops and wraps.
Oil and Acrylic Painting with Don Cincone Monday, April 30th – Thursday, May 3rd, Kiroli Park Lodge, West Monroe, LA, 9:00 am until 4:00 pm each day. $180. Student minimum 8 students – 15 maximum. From Alto, Louisiana, to the large cities of Europe and the United States, Don Cincone has had a 45 year artistic career. He has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles and Paris. He has had paintings in numerous celebrity homes including that of Walt Disney, Vincent Price, Henry Mancini, and Leonard Bernstein. Cincone wants his students to understand the creative process, no matter their medium or painting process and to understand how to reach that creativity in yourself, no matter where the student is in his career. Students may work in acrylic or oil on canvas, sizes 16 x 20 up to 18 x 24. Depending on the weather, students may work outside, from a still life setup, or from photographs.
